Invisalign
Invisalign is a series of clear, removable teeth aligners that are used as an alternative to traditional metal dental braces.
The Invisalign aligners are completely transparent, therefore are difficult to detect.
That is why this method is popular among the patients who want to straighten their teeth without the look of traditional metal braces.
Total treatment time averages 6-15 months.
The Invisalign aligners are considered to be more comfortable to wear. They can be easily removed if necessary, even though they are recommended to be worn 24/7 to achieve best results.
The success of the Invisalign aligners is based on a patient’s commitment to wear the aligners for a minimum of 20–22 hours per day, only removing them when they are eating, drinking, or brushing their teeth.
Invisalign has it limitations. The Invisalign aligners may have less success at correcting a severe overbite, underbite, or correcting the crossbite of the posterior teeth.
Conventional orthodontic braces are recommended for bite problems and severely spaced or crooked teeth for best result.
For more challenging cases, modern Invisalign treatment often involves the placement of temporary white composite attachments on some of the teeth to help perform more difficult tooth movements.
These attachments look like white or clear “buttons” placed on the facial surface of the tooth. They are removed without any damage to the tooth after the completion of the treatment.
